Palliative care in Jamaica is primarily a hospital-based service. The Hope Institute Hospital, based in Kingston, is considered a leader in developing and promoting the specialty. The Hope Institute acts as a small cancer center that offers total oncology care with a focus on in-patient and outpatient palliative care services. The team at Hope Institute run outpatient clinics at both the National Chest Hospital and Kingston Public Hospital. Hospice-based care is also offered at the Consie Walters Cancer Care Hospice in Kingston and the Brenda Stafford Village of Hope Hospice in Montego Bay. Additionally, the University Hospital of the West Indies has a small in-patient palliative care service.
